The New Moon Solar Eclipse on January 5 falls in the middle degrees of Capricorn which is a tough placement for such a sensitive body. Instead of home comforts, the new moon seeds are expected to grow in a fairly sparse environment. The land here is hard and dry, so it will take some toil to make it fertile. Much depends on carefully organizing structures in order to yield the best results from this new Moon.
Because of the seductive aspect of this Solar Eclipse, there is an element of using one’s sexual allure to seal a business deal. Those touched by this moon should beware of a potential partner who seems quite blown away by your money, popularity or influence. This is quite an insidious, gold-digging solar eclipse and one could get easily carried away by flattery. Unfortunately, because of this Moon’s sextile to Neptune, we may be blinded by our compassion.
This is the first of the eclipses since the Nodes changed signs so naturally, we begin a new set of themes to explore and discover. As this is a South Node eclipse, what is revealed around this time is connected to where we have been stuck for too long, too rigid, too ingrained in the rules. As the Nodes are integral to eclipses, events that occur tend to be colored by a sense of “fate”. As ever though, how we respond to these events influences what unfolds.
It isn’t easy though, to let go of how things have always been. The Moon is conjunct both Saturn and Pluto emphasizing the intense weight we feel on our shoulders. We do need to change for long term stability and to build trust. A sextile between the eclipse and Neptune gives us a helping hand. It’s about recognizing our connection and trusting our intuition.
The old order (Capricorn) is undergoing a transformation (Pluto) and what we need to build (Saturn) now is something meaningful (Neptune).
