We are only 9 days into April and another planet, our friend Mercury, joins the retrograde lineup of Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. I think most of us by now are familiar with retrograde motion. We know that the planet is not actually travelling backwards, it’s an optical illusion. But the affect cannot be discounted; the planetary energy does not operate in its normal mode.
Saturn turns retrograde on April 6th until August 25, 2017. Saturn is all about restriction and limitation; Sagittarius ruled by expansive Jupiter is positive and optimistic. Saturn's job, whether by transit or in your birth chart, is to provide enough pressure so that we confront what isn't working in our lives. Saturn will have us work to change it or help us to let it go. Saturn in Sagittarius asks us to take on the responsibility of living according to our personal truths and principles and to be loyal to these.
From March 4th to April 15th, the planet of love and beauty will be retrograde. This is the planet we love to love because it represents all the niceties of life. When Venus moves retrograde, it is a time to re-evaluate what makes us happy and what our priorities are. What we value now may be very different from what we felt was of utmost priority last year or even yesterday. This is a time to take stock of our priorities and decide where we might want to reorganize. Venus is also associated with money.
